Light is an abstract and logical notion in painting.

A natural element in the intimacy of coloured paintings,

in "whites" it combines with the unique qualities of daylight

borrowing its infinite movement and inducing subtle tonalities.

Tribute to Jean Lalou

White, between morality and toil,

its mirror and image which leads us to see for ourselves

what lies in the distance.

To name

the invisible beyond our grasp.

An idea more than reality.

I ease white

this fleeting and precious veil,

between the foreground and the background

leaving it dynamic and active.

I don't impose it.

I expose it to contemplation.

Alix Rossignol studied with Enio Penetello for four years before holding her first exhibition in Paris.
It was an immediate success both with the public and art critics.
Her work has been shown in Paris, New York, Milan and Germany in the Findlay, Sassi and Revel art galleries.
An accomplished artist, Alix Rossignol works with light and shade, solid and void and through her abstraction leads us into a sensual elegant world where harmony is the evidence of her thinking.
The finished work exists and reaches out to suggest the human form, slender and classical.
Alix Rossignol create couples, trios, conversations expressing all the emotional depth of human nature.

Within white
is a bright razorsharp presence
like an echo of a straight line.
I feel a straight line to be more rigorous, cold and pure
than a curve which frees accessible elements by creating less acute shapes.

To paint is to feel the sensations of colour, those which enable us to express ourselves, which together constitute white
And we feel the need to seek them out
As if to reassure ourselves.
As if to find ourselves.

It is only by opening up musical space
that I perceive this emptiness to be brought to fulfilment,
uniting form and matter, here, to create.
It relates.
It is the silence which moves us.
